World Space Week (WSW) Celebration in Cameroon

World space week is celebrated each year in the month of October around the world, so will it be this year 2007. The theme for this year is “saving life through space”.

As part of an ongoing effort by the Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing (GIS/RS) laboratory of the Limbe Botanic Garden toward reaching out to the public, we have formulated an outreach programme, which is aim at raising public awareness about space technology. Through this program we inform the pubic about what space science is in general and the importance of GIS/RS technology in particular. It is in this light that we are planning towards joining the rest of the world this year in celebration of both world space week (4th -10th October 2007) and GIS day (November 14th 2007).

Both celebrations shall target school children in particular and the public in general. The scope of our activities shall cover part of the South West and the Littoral provinces of Cameroon to raise public awareness on the importance of this technology in saving life and making life more comfortable in our society.
